Ollama Launches Transparent Per-Token Pricing with Monthly Credits
On August 31 2026 Ollama updated its cloud plans to per-token billing paired with fixed monthly usage credits replacing the prior GPU-time model. The change addresses…

- Pro plan is $20 per month with $60 in included usage Max is $100 for $300 and Team is $500 for $1,000 of shared credits across unlimited users.
- All plans offer dedicated compute zero data retention no prompt logging or training on user data published per-token rates and no hidden fees.
- Existing subscribers can remain on legacy plans until they upgrade while new accounts start on the refreshed structure with automatic monthly resets.
Shift to predictable token-based billing
Ollama moved away from GPU-time billing after receiving feedback that it had become difficult to forecast especially with the growth of very large open models such as those reaching trillions of parameters.
The new system uses industry-standard per-token rates listed on the pricing page and on each model page. Every paid plan includes a pool of monthly usage credits that refreshes automatically on the original subscription start date.
Plan details and included credits
Pro costs $20 per month and includes $60 of usage. Max costs $100 per month and includes $300. The Team plan costs $500 per month and provides $1,000 of shared credits for an unlimited number of users with centralized usage visibility.
The free plan supplies a small starter credit each month for select models and supports pay-as-you-go access to all models. After included credits are consumed usage continues at the published per-token rates with no service fees or former time-based limits.
Infrastructure privacy and transparency
Requests run on dedicated compute hosted in the US and Europe with Singapore used for a limited set of Qwen models. Ollama states it applies zero data retention does not log prompts and never trains on user data.
Users can view the exact cost of each request in their account dashboard. Unused credits do not roll over but the full monthly pool becomes available again at each reset.
Transition for current subscribers
Those already on Pro Max or Team plans continue under their existing legacy pricing as long as they maintain auto-renewal. They may upgrade to the new model at any time through account settings which immediately provides the full new monthly credit pool.
Changing billing cycle tier or canceling and resubscribing converts an account to the new pricing. Support can assist legacy subscribers who wish to revert after trying the updated plans.
